This document provides practical guidance for establishing the maximum acceptable radiation dose (Dmax,acc) for a product and its packaging in accordance with EN ISO 11137. It outlines the requirements for designing and conducting an experimental irradiation programme, highlights key considerations for dose delivery and measurement, and explains how to interpret results to define Dmax,acc. Product testing methods are not covered, but manufacturers are encouraged to apply risk assessment principles and ensure packaging evaluation aligns with ISO 11607.
